POST HURRICANE HELENE ASSISTANCE/IMPROVEMENTS MADE TO OUR GROUNDS IN 2024:

October 5, 2024: 

• Cleared the tree off the corner of the building​

• Covered the roof with a tarp

• Cut up the tree in the front lawn

​October 7, 2024:

• A path was cut and cleared between the building and the picnic pavilion and the power pole, so the power company could reconnect the power lines.

• Picked up the loose branches around the yard and piled them into piles for easy pick-up

• Raked the front walk way and driveway

​

October 19, 2024: The power pole was reconnected to the building

 

October 21, 2024: The roof was repaired

​

October 25, 2024: Duke reconnected the power line between the utility pole and the building.

​​November 28, 2024, Thanksgiving Day: We received a work team of 200 volunteers from Samaritan's Purse to assist with clean-up after Hurricane Helene. The following is what they did for our community center:

• Raked, blew and bagged leaves from the yard

• Cut down 4 trees that were either dead or leaning

• Cut up all fallen trees and hauled branches to outer edge of property

• Disassembled the picnic pavilion and stacked it for removal

• Cleared out all small brush and branches that had grown around the old tennis courts

• Removed branches from tennis court fence

• Cleaned out the gutters on our building

• Swept sidewalks

• Raked entire tennis court area

• Removed staples and tape from inside walls and ceiling

• Washed inside ceiling and walls with shock wave solution to ensure no mold

• Washed the all the windows inside and out

• Swept and washed the floor

 

... all in just 3 hours!​
